Police in Gastonia, North Carolina, recently issued a criminal citation to a woman for shooting bottles of Mountain Dew with a revolver in her backyard.

The woman told police she did not approve of her father drinking the beverage so she decided to do some target practice with the bottles.

According to the Gastonia Police Department’s Facebook page, officers responded to reports of shots fired in a neighborhood on October 24.

Arriving on the scene, officers discovered that the 64-year-old woman had shot four plastic bottles of Diet Mountain Dew.

While the officers said they understood that the woman was expressing her frustration with her father’s drinking habit, they described her action as irresponsible and dangerous.

“We totally understand that not everybody is a fan of the Dew, but we can’t stress enough how dangerous this is! There are much safer alternatives to disposing of beverages that you don’t like instead of using the full bottles as target practice … in your backyard … in your neighborhood … surrounded by other homes and people,” the department wrote.

“Please don’t Dew this,” police jokingly titled the post.

They concluded with the message: “Remember people, guns and Diet Mountain Dew don’t mix!”

Police did not mention the woman’s name or the neighborhood.
