U.S. News Needn’t Worry, Because Law Students & Lawyers Are ‘Obsessed’ With Elitism

US-News-Rankings-Logo-no-yearApplicants are obsessed with rankings, which makes it hard for law schools not to respond to that.

— Admissions consultant Anna Ivey, a former admissions dean at the University of Chicago Law School, in comments given to Reuters on why prospective and current law students may to continue to rely on the U.S. News law school rankings, despite the fact that many elite law schools have decided to opt out of participating, in a move led by Yale Law School. This is unlikely to sway pre-law students, however, because as Ivey noted, “[a]pplicants don’t look into how the sausage gets made.”
