Police in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, recently discovered a 10-year-old driver behind the wheel of an SUV, with his 6-year-old brother in the passenger’s seat, after a police chase.

On December 21, Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) attempted to stop an SUV for driving without its headlights at around midnight.

According to a press release from the department, the SUV failed to stop and instead drove the opposite way down a roundabout against traffic on Baltimore Street.

The driver then violated numerous traffic laws, including running through several red lights and failing to respond to the officers’ emergency lights and sirens.

After continuing for about three miles at fluctuating speeds and oftentimes swerving erratically, the car eventually lost control and struck a utility pole, forcing it to a halt.

Upon investigation, PSP troopers discovered the driver was a 10-year-old boy. They also found his 6-year-old brother sitting beside him.

Both of the children were returned to their mother safely.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities have not stated whether they will press charges.

Gettysburg is located in Adams County, around 140 miles west of Philadelphia.
