Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office in California used humor to catch criminals this Valentine’s Day by releasing a comical video urging the community to send in tips to the department.

The video uploaded to Facebook featured Lieutenants Dave Mullins and Tom Letras announcing a special offer to get revenge on an ex-valentine. The comedy skit was done in typical infomercial or car salesman style, asking viewers if they know an ex who is a fugitive from justice, has a warrant out for their arrest or has missed a court date.

“Did he steal your heart? Did he steal your credit card? Did he steal your catalytic converter? Boy, do we have an offer for you. If you call the number on your screen right now, your ex-valentine may be eligible for an all-inclusive minimum one-night stay in one of Stanislaus County’s finest overnight accommodations,” the officers said.

Noting that “our specialized hospitality teams will come to his door just to pick him up,” they continued by detailing the features of the jail package, replete with “custom bracelets,” “their own personal chauffeur,” “a photo shoot with one of our professional photographers,” “a special Valentine’s Day meal prepared by one of our executive chefs” and “deluxe accommodations.”

The video ended with the deputies urging the public to call the Crime Stoppers number at (866) 602-7463 toanonymously report criminals to the authorities.
