LA VERGNE, Tenn. — A female officer who was fired in connection to a department sex scandal has filed a lawsuit against the department and her former colleagues.

Former La Vergne Police Department officer Maegan Hall, 24, was fired, along with four other officers and the police chief, after an investigation revealed several instances of sexual misconduct while on duty and on city property, WSMV.com reported. In Hall’s lawsuit, which was filed on Monday, she claims she was a victim of sexual harassment and was groomed for “sexual exploitation.” Furthermore, her lawyers say Hall is having difficulty getting a job after the scandal made national news, prompting an influx of negative publicity.

“Maegan Hall was a vulnerable and optimistic 24-year-old woman who had applied to be a police officer in the City of La Vergne,” the lawsuit says. “Where Ms. Hall sought role models at her new job, she instead found predators. [She] felt trapped in the role assigned to her … and, in an attempt to escape, she nearly killed herself. Then, the City blamed her for everything. This lawsuit seeks justice for Maegan Hall.”

The lawsuit also claims Hall experienced a workplace “permeated with sexual innuendo and sexually explicit behavior,” allegedly citing how male officers often discussed sexual preferences, sexual attractiveness, sex acts they had performed in front of Hall and talked about their desires to have sex with Hall.
