A Michigan police lieutenant recently did a good deed by helping a pregnant driver complete her DoorDash delivery after she got into a car accident.
According to the Sterling Heights Police Department, Lieutenant David Allen helped the six-month-pregnant woman deliver the grocery and food order after she crashed on icy roads in Detroit.
The woman, Bryanna Fantozzi, asked police if they could deliver the items as her Ford Fusion was inoperable.
“I have a question because I have DoorDash stuff in my car. Is there any way you guys can deliver that for me?” Fantozzi asked police while showing how close the delivery destination was.
“Yeah, I’ll take it for you … I hope they give you a good review,” Allen joked.
Allen and his partner then transported the groceries, along with an order from Texas Roadhouse, to their final destination.
“This was nothing spectacular on our end,” Allen said in an appearance on Fox & Friends on March 1.
“I was more taken [aback] with her request because I’m not usually asked to deliver DoorDash while I’m working on duty,” he added.
Fox 2 identified Sterling Heights resident Genna Pizzo as the DoorDash customer.
Pizzo said she was taking care of her four sick children at the time of the order.
After answering the door, Officer Allen told Pizzo that he was not responsible for the order being inaccurate, and then made a joke about eating some of the food on the way over.
“If that’s Texas Roadhouse, you’re lucky if the rolls made it. I’m on a diet right now and that would have been questionable,” Allen quipped.
Allen later said the accident could have been “much worse” due to the severe weather conditions.
“It wasn’t something that was that difficult for me to help her out with,” Allen reflected.
The entire incident was caught on officer’s body cameras and released to the public.
Fantozzi said that Pizzo offered to give her some baby clothes after the incident.
