Lowenstein Sandler has laid off 16 business services professionals, the law firm confirmed to Law.com Wednesday evening.

Lowenstein Sandler is providing outplacement support and resources to the employees who were laid off, a spokesperson told Law.com in a statement.

“Changing client and attorney support needs, combined with shifting market dynamics, caused us to review our business services group staffing levels across the firm,” the statement said. “As a result of this review, we made the difficult decision to separate from 16 of our business services professionals.”

Anonymous sources told Law.com that the layoffs happened in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Law.com said layoffs have become “a relatively common occurrence in BigLaw over the last several months.”

Six other large or well-known firms have also conducted layoffs.
