ATL-Legal-Tech-Non-Event-Promo-Image-1b-editTime and again, data has proven to be essential for modern businesses, and some of the biggest companies in the world rely on big and small data to make better decisions.

So, why are law firms mostly late to the party?

We invited Mary Juetten of Traklight onto the Non-Eventcast to help us find out.

But, before we kicked things off for reals, I talked to Mary about whether Valentine’s Day is a viable holiday, or just a way to sell greeting cards (3:22) — maybe it’s both?

Then, we start off slow, by discussing what a KPI even is (5:02). Mary then talked about how processes and workflows inform the building of KPIs (10:42).

Mary also went over when to review KPIs (18:48), including financial and qualitative metrics (21:41).  You can even solicit feedback from your clients about the viability of the KPIs you use (22:48).

Every lawyer should be using data analytics to define and refine what they do. If your law firm wants to get serious about data management, give this podcast a listen.

(For more, feel free to visit the Law Firm KPIs section of the Non-Event.)

Jared Correia, a consultant and legal technology expert, is the host of the Non-Eventcast, the featured podcast of the Above the Law Non-Event for Tech-Perplexed Lawyers.
