A man was arrested and charged with allegedly impersonating a police officer in order to gain access to the Final Four music festival held at Discovery Green in downtown Houston on March 25.
According to court documents, Trayvone Lil Darus Stevenson, 28, wore a “Police K-9” vest and told event security that he was a police officer to get into the festival, which was free to attend with registration. The festival featured performances by Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban.
Stevenson, a barber by trade, was arrested and charged with impersonating a public servant. After being confronted by police, he allegedly claimed to be working security for the event, which was false. He was then detained the Harris County jail and later granted a $20,000 bond by the judge, as he did not have a previous criminal record.
The judge also ordered Stevenson to not use or possess “any clothing that says K-9 or police or that resembles the uniform of any Harris County police agency” or “any kind of badge that resembles any police agency in Harris County.”
“Megan Thee Stallion is a fantastic draw, big draw, especially here in Houston, but this is still a felony case. You cannot go and impersonate an officer to get into a concert venue,” prosecutor Mathew Jackson told ABC 13 News.
The Final Four Fan Fest music festival was an outdoor concert held in conjunction with the NCAA’s Final Four college basketball tournament, and was sponsored by the NCAA.
