A couple that was trying to “catch em’ all” was arrested recently after allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars’ worth of Pokémon cards and other items from a local business.

According to the Prescott Valley Police Department, a local business notified police that two individuals had been shoplifting consumable goods, football cards, baseball cards and other items on eight separate occasions since September 2022.

The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Tyler Moore and 25-year-old Brittany Bender. On April 19, Moore was even seen stealing $483 worth of Pokémon cards –collectible cards from the popular game and animated TV series.

An investigator was dispatched to the scene and monitored the suspects’ home on North Taylor Drive, where both Moore and Bender arrived in a vehicle along with Bender’s 7-month-old baby.

The police then talked with the suspects and discovered that the couple had a history of illegal drug possession.

After the pair gave inconsistent stories, police searched their vehicle and uncovered over a pound of marijuana, seven bags of cocaine, 20 psilocybin chocolate bars and a gun. The psilocybin mushrooms were reportedly found in boxes next to the baby in the back seat.

Moore and Bender were arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs, narcotics and a weapon in a drug offense, as well as endangerment. The investigation is ongoing. The Prescott Valley Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
