Ed. note: Welcome to our daily feature, Quote of the Day.

Law firms don’t want to cut into their muscle. It was a feeding frenzy in 2021, and many law firms acknowledged they overhired, but I don’t think there’s a risk to reduce head count at law firms of 5-6%.

— Kirsten Keegan Vasquez, Major, Lindsey & Africa partner and VP of law firm recruiting, in comments given to the American Lawyer on the slim likelihood of Biglaw’s layoffs being able to deeply affect the Am Law 100′s cumulative head count growth since 2020. Layoffs may continue, but Biglaw firms will try to cut as few attorneys as possible, Vasquez said.
