Another law firm defers start date for some associates

Fenwick & West has pushed back the start date for first-year corporate and transaction associates.
The new start date for the associates is Jan. 16, 2024. The start date is earlier—Oct. 16—for first-year litigation and tax associates.
Above the Law broke the news and published a Fenwick & West memo with the information. Law.com followed with a story that said Fenwick & West had confirmed the start dates.
Fenwick & West will pay a $15,000 stipend to the associates with deferred start dates.
Fenwick & West is the third technology-sector law firm to delay start dates, according to Law.com. The others are Cooley and Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian, which said it may defer start dates on a case-by-case basis.
