These are probably not the last reductions in force that we’re going to see.

— Kate Reder Sheikh, a California legal recruiter for Major, Lindsey & Africa, in comments given to Bloomberg Law in the wake of Reed Smith’s reduction in force. The firm is just the latest to cut jobs in the wake of a slowdown in demand and overcapacity among their ranks due to a lack of attrition, or “bloated payrolls,” as Reder Sheikh put it.
