A young boy’s dream of becoming a police officer for a day was fulfilled by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and several other police departments in Central Indiana, thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

According to a Facebook post from the HCSO, a caravan of police vehicles, including patrol SUVs, patrol motorcycles and a BearCat greeted Gabe at his school on April 25, where he was already dressed in his police uniform.

Gabe was given his own radio for the day and chose the Noblesville Police Department’s BearCat armored vehicle to ride in on his way to tour HCSO.

Gabe’s visit to the sheriff’s office was led by Hamilton County Public Safety Communications Director Mike Hubbs, who took him on a tour of the dispatch facility, where he got to meet the dispatchers he had been communicating with on his radio.

The Make-A-Wish foundation is known for granting wishes to children with critical illnesses. The organization aims to bring hope and joy to children and their families by fulfilling their most heartfelt wishes.

Thanks to HCSO and the Arcadia, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield police departments, Gabe was able to live out his dream of becoming a police officer for a day, an experience he will likely never forget.

The heartwarming event brought a smile to the faces of many in the community and showcased the good deeds and kindness of local law enforcement.

“That is so awesome. So good to see his happy face,” one person wrote on Facebook.
