Both legal departments and law firms are always on the hunt for effective legal matter management software.  It’s an immensely important choice to make; and, it’s not easy.  So, how do you wade through the various options and features, to determine what works best in your environment?

Jodie Baker, of Xakia Technologies, enters the Non-Eventcast, to help us answer that question.  After discussing the relative merits of Australian children’s television (3:36), we dive into the legaltech conversation.

We start by talking about cloud versus legacy software, and how the cloud has democratized legaltech (7:31).  Next, we address whether legal and spend management can even be done in the same tool (9:25).

After that, we cover business intelligence tools, including features inside of legal matter management software (12:11).  Jodie also takes the time to talk over other features legal departments should be looking at when choosing a matter management tool (16:50).  Jodie also shares some of the important initiatives she’s working on to get more women involved in the legaltech space (22:33).

If you’re looking to add or improve to your matter management technology suite, visit the Non-Event to learn more. We’ve got you.

Jared Correia, a consultant and legal technology expert, is the host of the Non-Eventcast, the featured podcast of the Above the Law Non-Event for Tech-Perplexed Lawyers.
