Hugh Verrier will step down as chair of White & Case at the end of the summer, to be replaced by litigator Heather McDevitt.
Verrier has led White & Case for 16 years and overseen as boom in the firm’s fortunes. The firm ranks in the top 10 in the Am Law 100, G200, and NLJ 500. The $2.8B revenue firm boasts $2.8M in PEP and revenue per lawyer numbers of $1,081,000.
McDevitt said: “It is a great honor to be elected by my fellow partners as Chair of White & Case. I look forward to working with our talented and dedicated partners and colleagues across the globe to ensure our Firm continues to provide exceptional service to our clients. Building upon the success that has defined our journey under Hugh’s leadership, I am dedicated to the continued growth of our Firm in the years to come.”
Verrier was notably fond of an open-office concept, electing to sit in a bullpen-style area of the firm’s impressive offices. I wonder what becomes of that space in a post-Verrier, post-pandemic office world?
