MCDONOUGH, Ga. — A chief deputy with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was suspended for five days following a traffic stop, FOX 5 reports.
Henry County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Michael Yarbrough was clocked going nearly 100 mph in an unmarked department-issued vehicle on a 35 mph road, body-worn camera video from the incident shows.
“Really?” the police officer who pulled Yarbrough over for speeding immediately asked.
Shortly after receiving Yarbrough’s license, the body camera video shows the officer returning to the cruiser and making a phone call.
Officer: Guess who I just pulled over.
Phone: Who?
Officer: Yarbrough … the chief deputy driving a Dodge Charger, a souped-up Dodge Charger that belongs to the sheriff’s office. I just clocked this [sic] going 96 in a 35.
In the video, the officer can be heard contemplating whether or not he should issue a citation to the chief deputy, who was in the car with another Henry County Sheriff’s Office employee in full uniform.
The officer issued Yarbrough a citation for driving 96 mph in a 35 mph zone and sent him on his way.
“Please slow down and have a safe day,” the officer said after he has Yarbrough sign the citation.
Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett told FOX 5 he “suspended the chief deputy for 40 hours for the severity of the traffic citation.”
