CHP — Buttonwillow

California Highway Patrol officers in Buttonwillow, a small community in the San Joaquin Valley, went above and beyond their usual duties when they assisted a pregnant woman in active labor on the morning of July 8.

The California Highway Patrol Bakersfield Communications Center reported receiving an urgent call reporting a medical emergency involving a pregnant woman in distress on SR-119, just west of SR-43. Reacting to the call, officers assigned to the Buttonwillow area rushed to the scene to provide much-needed assistance.

In a statement released by the California Highway Patrol, it was revealed that the officers put their training into action to safely deliver the “beautiful baby girl” at 7:32 a.m.

First responders, including Officer Pence and Officer Krahn, were seen beaming with happiness as they held the newborn baby girl. In the heartwarming photos shared on social media, two officers and three EMS workers gathered around the mother’s Toyota Camry, where the baby was safely delivered.

Following the successful delivery, both the mother and her baby were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention. According to the California Highway Patrol, both mom and baby are doing well and their condition is stable.

“Mom and baby were transported to a local hospital and are doing well,” the department wrote in the post. “Great job, Officer Pence and Officer Krahn!”

The community and social media users alike were quick to praise the heroic actions of the officers.

“Not all heroes wear capes, they wear badges,” one person commented on Instagram.

Numerous comments on social media platforms expressed admiration for the officers’ dedication and professionalism in handling the delicate situation.

“There is a country song in the making right there!” another user wrote.
