ATL-Legal-Tech-Non-Event-Promo-Image-1b-editLawyers spend an inordinate amount of time collecting, collating, and corralling documents.

So attorneys can get very persnickety about how that all happens, in technology platforms, which inevitably get linked to productivity suites — like the fairly ubiquitous Microsoft 365 office suite.

That’s why we added Keith Vallely of Epona, an expert in document management, onto the Non-Eventcast roster, to cover a number of issues related to online document management for law firms.

Keith starts off by clarifying the difference between document organization and document management, the latter being the optimal model (4:54).

Keith then offered up his thoughts on how search plays a role in document management, and what features law firms should be looking for, in that regard (6:34).

Keith then talks over how case management software, productivity software, and document management software intersect around files (14:00), before laying out how Microsoft fits into the equation (23:07).

After that, Keith discusses how to best leverage Microsoft’s features, in order to segregate documents in accordance with users’ needs (25:13), before finishing up with a discussion of how workflows work, inside of a document management system (28:28).

If your document management is kind of a hide-and-seek situation, listen to this show, to figure out how to acquire some clarity.

And while you’re here, feel free to check out the the Document Management Buyer’s Guide from Above the Law and LegalTech Publishing to see the latest in upgrade options. (The Above the Law Non-Event is supported by vendor sponsorships.)

Jared Correia, a consultant and legal technology expert, is the host of the Non-Eventcast, the featured podcast of the Above the Law Non-Event for Tech-Perplexed Lawyers.
