LOS ANGELES — Entertainment legend Jay Leno stopped by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Palmdale station to make a donation to the family of fallen Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer.

“No fanfare, no cameras, no PR, just Jay Leno,” a social media post from the Palmdale Station reads. “Earlier this week, Mr. Leno stopped by Palmdale Station to lend his support and make a donation to the Clinkunbroomer family. Thank you for stopping by sir. We appreciate your support!”

Many commenters on the social media post shared their gratitude for Leno’s support.

“That’s awesome. Thank you for coming to Palmdale, Mr. Leno. Hopefully your presence and show of support for the police will get others on board to support the brave men and women who help keep us all safe,” Evelyn Abernathy wrote.

“What a great guy! He has always been supportive of the police. Thank you, Mr. Leno, for your continued support of our LEOs!” Janice Seguin said.

Clinkunbroomer, 30, was shot as he sat in his patrol car at an intersection on Sept. 16. He died at a hospital after being found unconscious in the vehicle in the city of Palmdale, according to LASD Sheriff Robert Luna.

The sheriff said Clinkunbroomer was a third-generation deputy, following his father and grandfather into the department, and had been assigned to the Palmdale station since July 2018. He was also newly engaged.

The suspect in the shooting, identified as Kevin Cataneo Salazar, has been charged with murder.
