In Jonesboro, Arkansas, a chicken’s antics turned into a hilarious foot chase that quickly went viral on social media.

The incident unfolded when Jonesboro resident Tia Dulaney returned home to find an unexpected visitor on her front porch — a chicken that had taken a liking to her property.

She waited patiently for about five minutes, hoping the feathered trespasser would eventually go on its way, but to her amusement, the chicken remained firmly planted.

With no other options left, Dulaney made the decision to call the Jonesboro Police Department.

Officer Nathan Swindle responded to the call, expecting a routine situation. But the chicken had other plans.

Swindle approached the uncooperative fowl to take it into custody, but the chicken bolted, setting off a pursuit.

“I was trying to shoo it off a little bit, and it took off, and so I was like, ‘Man, I gotta catch it,’ and so I immediately started running,” Swindle recounted in a Facebook post.

A nearly five-minute chase ensued around a parking lot, with the elusive chicken showcasing some impressive evasive maneuvers — all of which was caught on camera.

The chicken darted under railings and even sought refuge under a nearby car, forcing the officer to use a stick to coax it out.

Throughout the pursuit, both the officer and onlookers couldn’t help but laugh, turning the chicken chase into an unexpected source of entertainment.

“He was having more fun than really anything,” Dulaney said, commenting on the spirited chase.

“I think she just thought I was going to shoo it off and call it good, but she sure got a kick out of it,” Swindle remarked.

Eventually, the officer managed to successfully apprehend the feathered fugitive, bringing the escapade to a close.

The chicken was safely returned to its home, but Swindle’s actions earned him a nickname among his colleagues — “Rooster.”

On a later date, the chicken once again decided to cross the road, returning to the same apartment complex.

Jonesboro residents know exactly who to call when there’s any “fowl play” on their porch or parking lot — none other than “Rooster” Swindle.
