The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bill to extend U.S. Supreme Court security to justices’ immediate family members and sent it to President Joe Biden for his signature.

The bill is known as the Supreme Court Police Parity Act of 2022, report Bloomberg Law, Law360, Reuters, the Hill and CNN.

The bill expands security to justices’ families and senior officers of the court, if the court marshal decides that it is necessary, according to the Hill.

A White House spokesperson said Biden will sign the bill, according to Reuters.

The bill passed following the June 8 arrest of Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California, for traveling to Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home with the alleged aim to kill him.

Democrats had delayed the bill in an unsuccessful bid to expand protections even further, according to Bloomberg Law and the Hill.
