In March of 2021, Oklahoma County District Judge Timothy Henderson resigned from his position. A few days before, he was suspended after three female attorneys complained of sexual misconduct.
As reported by KFOR, Henderson said his relationship with two of the women was consensual. But questions remained about his conduct:
“My rulings were fair and supported by the evidence and facts presented by the attorneys,” Henderson said at an evidentiary hearing in November 2021.
A murder conviction has been thrown out due to the relationship between Henderson and a prosecutor in the case, and other convictions have been called into question since.
Earlier this year, the Oklahoma Bar Association began disciplinary proceedings, and a hearing was scheduled for next month. But instead of going through this process, he’s resigned his bar membership, “which, if accepted, is tantamount to disbarment.” He wrote in his resignation, “I admit my conduct brought discredit upon the legal profession and was prejudicial to the administration of justice.”
In five years, Henderson will be eligible to apply for reinstatement.
