Lots of Biglaw firms like to wait until the end of the day to announce compensation news — I suppose the theory is it’s less distracting that way. Which ignores the obsessive refresh of Above the Law as associates’ jealousy mounts with each additional announcement from a peer firm, but I digress. It’s after 5 p.m. on the East Coast and we’ve seen a rush of raise announcements come in. The latest is from Debevoise.
Last year, Debevoise & Plimpton made $1,329,700,000 in gross revenue, making it No. 35 on the Am Law 100. So yeah, they’re just the sort of firm that is going to keep up with the very top of Biglaw when it comes to associate compensation. That means the below scale, which matches the standard set by Cravath, is the new salary grid at the firm.
