Bill Alexander Named CEO of National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund

Respected 30-year law enforcement veteran takes the helm of leading nonprofit committed to honoring fallen officers and families

Following an extensive nationwide search, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) on December 5 announced that 30-year law enforcement veteran Bill Alexander has been named chief executive officer (CEO) of the leading nonprofit organization.

Alexander, 49, has served for five months as interim CEO during the search process and was previously NLEOMF’s executive director of its Memorial for nearly two years.

“All of us at NLEOMF were humbled and honored by the number of highly qualified persons who expressed interest in this position, and we can’t thank them enough for their dedication and passion of serving and honoring our law enforcement heroes and their families,” said Lori Sharpe Day, managing partner of the Ashcroft Law Firm and Board chairperson. “But at the end of the day and after very careful consideration, it was clear to the Board that Bill is the right person for this position. He has the extensive background, experience, dedication and knowledge to move our organization forward as we remain steadfast in our commitment to honor those who have sacrificed so much.”

Founded in 1984, NLEOMF is the sole nonprofit organization responsible for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., honoring the more than 23,000 officers who have died in the line of duty, a dedicated Museum located at Judiciary Square, and multiple programs and activities designed to promote awareness, appreciation and wellness for our nation’s law enforcement officers and their families.

Established in 1984, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the fallen, telling the story of American law enforcement, and making it safer for those who serve. The first pillar of this mission, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., honors the names of all of the 23,229 officers who have died in the line of duty to date throughout U.S. history.
