goodbye lawyerSelendy Gay Elsberg, the elite boutique firm that opened six years ago after its founders left Quinn Emanuel, has today announced that named partner David Elsberg will be departing to start his own firm. The boutique compensation leader will be renamed Selendy Gay PLLC.

Since its founding in 2018, Selendy Gay has expanded in size to almost 80 lawyers (that’s 18 partners and nearly 60 associates), plus about 70 staff and bench attorneys. Thanks to its growth, later in 2024, the firm will be expanding its office space from two floors to four floors in its current building.

“We thank David for his contributions to our firm and wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor,” Selendy Gay said of Elsberg in a statement. “Our firm has had six years of remarkable growth. We are proud that we count the world’s most innovative companies and successful individuals among our clients.”

Elsberg offered his own statement on his upcoming plans, announcing the launch of his own firm, Elsberg Baker & Maruri. Rollo Baker and Silpa Maruri are both partners at Quinn Emanuel, where Baker currently serves as co-chair of the firm’s corporate governance litigation practice and Maruri currently serves as co-chair of the firm’s Delaware practice. Here are some additional details, from Elsberg:

“I’m very excited about reuniting with my former Quinn colleagues, Rollo and Silpa, to launch our premier litigation and trial firm, Elsberg Baker & Maruri, where we will hit the ground running on large, complex commercial cases from day one.”

Elsberg continued, expressing his gratitude to his former firm and his hopes to work with his former colleagues in the future. “I’m thankful for the years I’ve shared with my colleagues at Selendy Gay Elsberg and anticipate that the two firms will work together and maintain a close relationship for many years to come,” he said.

Congratulations to Selendy Gay and to Elsberg Baker & Maruri. We wish both firms the best of luck in the future.
