Beaumont Police Department

In a comical attempt at criminal mischief, three suspects dubbed the “Three Stooges” by authorities stumbled their way into a Popeyes restaurant in Beaumont, Texas, on the evening of December 31.

Armed with handguns, the masked trio was seen conducting a slapstick-style armed robbery, leaving law enforcement and the public both amused and concerned.

Surveillance footage captured the Three Stooges’ antics as they clumsily entered the Popeyes restaurant around 8:50 p.m. looking for cash. The suspects, wearing recognizable clothing but concealing their identities with masks, proceeded to the back of the establishment, where they threatened employees and demanded money, according to Beaumont police.

In the footage, the first suspect could be seen unexpectedly slipping and falling as he entered the restaurant, setting off a chain reaction as the second culprit tripped over his fallen comrade. The third suspect narrowly avoided becoming part of the human pile of burglars, looking like a scene straight out of a slapstick comedy.

The Three Stooges eventually managed to flee the scene in a blue vehicle after grabbing an unknown amount of money, despite not making the smoothest of getaways.

The Beaumont Police Department took a lighthearted approach to the incident when it posted the surveillance video on Facebook to urge the public to help identify the bumbling trio.

“Larry, Curly and Moe (caught on video below) went slipping and sliding into Popeyes on Phelan,” the post said.
