phone textsFor the eighth year in a row, women have outnumbered their male colleagues in law school enrollment. Someone seems to be upset by this — and by women outperforming their male colleagues, generally — and they’ve decided to take their grievances to women law professors in a series of odd text messages that the FBI is now investigating.

The messages started on January 30, and another set was sent this past weekend. On Sunday, Professor Victoria Haneman of Creighton University School of Law posted a screenshot of the texts on X:

Attn law professors

I received these texts from an unknown number this morning.

I have discovered that many other women law profs, at 3+ law schools, have also received this identical message from 1 of 2 possible numbers.

A cadre of other women law professors, as well as undergraduate women professors, received the same messages. Law.com has additional details:

Reportedly, one or two law professors from eight law schools and at least six more law professors at a ninth school—all women—said they had received the message. A female law student also reported receiving the text, along with four undergraduate professors.

These messages aren’t necessarily threatening, but they sure are creepy. Hopefully the FBI is able to identify the sender soon.
