A burglary suspect in Colorado was recently caught with his pants down — literally — after he was apprehended by police while seated on the toilet.
The incident, which took place on February 29, was captured on camera by the Lakewood Police Department.
Footage shared by the department documented the arrest, wherein officers are seen approaching a bathroom door with caution before making their entry.
Inside the bathroom, they find the suspect in an embarrassing position, with his pants down around his ankles while using the toilet.
Despite the unexpected situation, law enforcement maintained their professionalism, instructing the suspect to show his hands.
In the video, the suspect complies, albeit with a humorous remark: “I’m on the sh*tter, bro. I barely made it.”
Following the suspect’s compliance, he was directed to stand up while his face and genitals were blurred in the released video.
According to authorities, the suspect, who remains unidentified, had been linked to a prior burglary. The police managed to locate him with the assistance of drone teams.
Upon apprehension, the suspect was promptly taken into custody and is currently facing second-degree burglary charges.
“While we see a lot of things in the line of doody, we had no clue what awaited us this time!” the department joked on X.
“The suspect was taken to jail (after pulling his pants up) …” they added.
Police later praised the officers involved in the arrest for their professionalism and efficiency despite the unconventional situation.
As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with information related to the burglary or the suspect to come forward.
In the meantime, the Lakewood Police Department continues to monitor the situation as the legal proceedings against the suspect unfold.
