Former Elk Grove school district employee arrested for touching, communicating with a minor

A former campus supervisor for the Elk Grove Unified School District has been arrested, accused of touching and communicating inappropriately with an 11-year-old child, according to the police department.The school district placed 49-year-old David Martinez Jr. on administrative leave after a student reported the allegations to staff at Helen Carr Castello Elementary School. Detectives found that Martinez touched an 11-year-old child with sexual intent and had communication with that child victim which was sexual in nature, according to the Elk Grove Police Department. Martinez was employed by the district at the time of the incident.Martinez is a former employee of Helen Carr Castello Elementary School and he also served the after-school program at Franklin Elementary School, according to the school district.”The Elk Grove Unified School District’s top priority is the safety and well-being of its students,” the school district said in a statement. “Staff, students, and community members are asked to report any suspected instances of abuse or neglect as soon as possible to school officials or law enforcement.”Officials said Martinez turned himself into the Sacramento County jail on Monday. He is being held on a $200,000 bail. Martinez is charged with a lewd and lascivious act with a child under 14 years old and communicating with a minor with intent to commit a sex offense.
