A street vendor in New Port Richey, Florida, was arrested on a felony charge on July 2 after throwing a hot dog at an officer who was warning him of violating a city ordinance.
The man, identified as New Port Richey resident Jason Stoll, 47, was selling hot dogs after-hours on a roadway in downtown St. Petersburg after his street closure permit had ended.
Police officers asked Stoll to stop selling the hot dogs, which made him “extremely upset.” He then intentionally threw a hot dog at an officer and was subsequently arrested, according to arrest documents.
Police also noted that there was an “indication of alcohol influence” during the altercation.
Stoll was ultimately charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer without violence. If convicted on the felony charges, he could face a minimum of three years in jail.
Online court records show that Stoll was later released on $2,500 bail after being booked into the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The court records list several tattoos on Stoll, including phrases such as “hustle eat sleep repeat” and “what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.”
