OKLAHOMA CITY — Last month, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bobby Swartz was shot and killed while serving eviction papers at Benjamin Plank’s home. A second deputy was wounded and police later found documentation in Plank’s home that he planned to kill any law enforcement officer who arrived at his home.

The department has now released body camera and dash cam footage of the pursuit of Plank following the shooting on August 22. According to the department’s video, Plank fled the scene in a vehicle trailering a boat. He had loaded several firearms into his vehicle prior to fleeing the scene, police said. During the high-speed pursuit, Plank fired rounds from a rifle at officers and two other officers returned fire toward Plank.

Eventually, the pursuit ended when Plank stopped at an Air Force base gate and surrendered to police. Numerous weapons were found in Plank’s vehicle, including a rifle, handguns and ammunition. Police later found a stockpile of weapons and ammunition in the boat, including two loaded AR-15s, three loaded pistols, more than 900 live rounds of ammo and 25 shotgun shells. They found more guns and hundreds of live rounds of ammunition inside his home.

Plank was booked on multiple charges, including first-degree murder and shooting with intent to kill.
