Texas deputies recently caught a 12-foot alligator that was wandering through a residential neighborhood outside of Houston.
According to officials, deputies with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to calls of a large alligator walking in the middle of the road near the 13800 block of North Lake Branch Lane in Atascocita in the early morning hours of September 19.
Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman shared photos on Facebook showing the massive reptile lying near a vehicle parked on the street.
Deputies successfully wrangled the gator and handed the animal over to Animal Control to be relocated.
“SEE YOU LATER, ALLIGATOR!” the department wrote.
The department also uploaded a photo of the captured alligator, which made the deputies look relatively diminutive in stature.
“So, we just have dinosaurs roaming neighborhoods now?” Joseph Torres commented on the post.
But this wasn’t the first time Precinct 4 deputies wrangled an alligator.
The department often responds to alligator encounters. In July, precinct deputies were dispatched to relocate a young alligator in a different Atascocita neighborhood.
In that instance, Lieutenant Romero and Sergeant Morales captured the gator and safely released it back into the wild.
In May, Harris County deputies captured an alligator near a home in George Bush Park by using chicken as bait.
They then released it into the Barker Reservoir.
In a recent incident, a young alligator in Lake Worth was detained after “hissing” at a woman outside an ATM.
