SAN JOSE — A new medical office building project in San Jose is headed for a key city approval milestone, a potential sign of a healthcare sector that remains robust despite an uncertain Bay Area office market.

The office building would be built at 2512 Samaritan Court in southwest San Jose, according to plans on file with city officials.

This building is just part of an overall redevelopment of parcels next to Good Samaritan Court that would replace several older structures. Cilker Henderson Properties, a real estate firm, has proposed the project.

One of the buildings in the project was completed in 2023 and is located at 2506 Samaritan Court. This new medical office building totals 69,000 square feet.

The latest segment of the project is being considered at a city Planning Director’s hearing this week.

The three-story building totaling 46,000 square feet would replace an existing building that totals 20,700 square feet, the city planning files show.

The construction time frame wasn’t immediately clear.

The proposed building as well as the recently completed building are part of a campus along Samaritan Court and near State Route 85 that was developed and is owned by Cilker Henderson Properties.

The new projects and the existing cluster of medical offices are near, but separate from, a massive redevelopment that Good Samaritan Hospital is planning for its campus. The Good Sam redevelopment will include a brand-new hospital.

The Cilker Henderson Properties project at its medical center complex is part of an overall and ongoing effort to expand its facilities.

“A state-of-the-art campus that will help meet the future needs of our physicians, medical groups, and patients” is the goal of the redevelopment at the Good Samarian Court properties, Cilker Henderson states on its website.
