Electric scooters, or scooters, are becoming increasingly popular. Walking through cities without encountering this mode of transportation is becoming nearly impossible due to its convenient, fast, and environmentally friendly nature.

However, it’s also important to recognize that scooters can be involved in traffic accidents, and their riders can be seriously injured as a result. By following these safety tips, you can take control of your safety and maintain road safety when using a scooter.

Remember to use the appropriate protective gear

Like any mode of transportation, electric scooters have protective gear that you can use to avoid serious injury in case of an accident. In these cases, you can use helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads to reduce the impact in case of a fall or collision.

Respect the rules of the road

Regardless of your role on the road, it’s your responsibility to know and respect local rules. By doing so, you’re not only ensuring your safety but also showing consideration for other road users.

Always stay focused on the road

Attention is paramount to avoid accidents like in any vehicle. This includes not using your mobile phone or wearing headphones to keep alert on the road. Ultimately, be aware of your surroundings and what’s happening.

Always drive safely

What does this mean? It means knowing how your scooter works, being comfortable and familiar with it, and knowing how to safely turn, brake, and make necessary maneuvers. This will help you face accurate and more comprehensive situations on the road.

Maintain your scooter properly

Making sure it functions correctly, has good tire pressure, and that the lights and brakes respond well are part of the safety measures you should take.

Ensure you’re visible to drivers and pedestrians: Being easily recognizable is vital to avoid accidents, which you can do through lights, reflectors, and staying in well-lit road areas.
